Mexican govt claims progress in lower agchem ag transition

Mexican authorities say that the country’s “agro-ecological transition” is progressing through the “accompanied production technician strategy”. The agro-ecological term refers generally to a move towards adopting non-chemical means or reducing chemical crop protection. At the end of 2022, there were 3,560 eld schools established by the Technical Support Strategy (EAT) in 36 regions involving 600 municipalities in 26 states, the Ministry of Agriculture says. The EAT held 10,438 assemblies last year that sought to promote the transition in the countryside and “encourage actions for food self-suiciency of peasant [smallholder] families”.
