APVMA proposes registration of Nippon Soda’s ipflufenoquin

The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the registration of Japanese company Nippon Soda’s fungicide, ipflufenoquin, along with an end-use product, Migiwa. The approval is intended for the control of grey mould (Botrytis cinerea) in strawberries. The regulator believes that the active ingredient and the derived product do not pose risks to human health when used in accordance with label directions, noting that the fungicide has low acute toxicity by oral, dermal and inhalation routes to laboratory animals. It also does not consider ipflufenoquin an eye or skin irritant.
