FDA finalizes guidance clarifying FSVP requirements for importers

FDA on Tuesday (January 10) issued a long-awaited final guidance designed to help industry comply with the mandates of the Food Safety Modernization Act's (FSMA's) Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) Rule. Scheduled for publication in the Federal Register on January 11, the extensive, 118-page Q&A guidance, Foreign Supplier Verification Programs for Importers of Food for Humans and Animals, clarifies the requirements of the FSVP Rule which became effective in May 2017.
