© 2022, The Author(s) under exclusive licence to Society for Plant Research.Six bacterial wilt resistant bell pepper inbreds were utilized to breed 30 cross-combinations. Genetic parameters viz., D, F, H1, H2, h2 and E for 14 traits were estimated with the method of analysis proposed by Hayman. Significant diversity among parents was confirmed by the graphical sketches. Variance analysis revealed the significance of both additive and non-additive components of variance in domineering the heritage of the characters under study which was further confirmed by the non-significant values of correlation coefficient ‘r’ amongst standardized parental measurements (Yr) and parental order of dominance (Wr + Vr). Based on values of F and KD: KR ratio, a predominance of dominant alleles was observed in the parents for days to 50% blossoming, days to first harvest, primary branches per plant, harvest duration, average fruit weight, fruit yield and bacterial wilt incidence. Whereas an equivalent contribution of both dominant and recessive genes was observed in lobes per fruit, fruit length, fruit width, pericarp thickness, TSS, plant height as well as marketable fruits per plant. The mean degree of dominance (H1/D)1/2 was more than one for majority of traits thereby indicating over dominance. H2/4H1 ratio showed irregular allocation of positive and negative genes for all the traits studied except lobes per fruit (0.25) and pericarp thickness (0.29). Similar results were revealed by graphical analysis thereby confirming the function of non-allelic interaction i.e., epistatis. The positive estimates of ‘Y’ intercept ‘a’ for all the characters studied suggested partial dominance.
