NEW PRICE INDEX

Over the next few months we will be developing a new index of steel prices to be published regularly in European Steel Review. This will be called the Industrial Packaging Steel Purchasing Index. It will be based on the negotiated basis prices for cold rolled coil by the West European industrial drum makers in Germany, France, Italy, UK, Spain, Belgium and Netherlands.The index will show the purchasing trends of major end-users of steel who buy on quarterly contracts. These can be compared with the MEPS prices that indicate the price tendencies for independent service centres and other regular consumers that negotiate on combined monthly and quarterly patterns.
