Palestine upgrades water system with Itron meters

The US company Itron announced on March 2,2016 that it completed the modernization of Jerusalem Water Undertaking's (JWU) water system infrastructure. A nonprofit, independent, civil organization in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate of Palestine, JWU is using Itron's AMI-ready, volumetric water meters to deliver water to residential customers and reduce apparent non-revenue water losses in its system. Itron is based in Liberty Lake, Washington, United States. The project benefits JWU's service territory, which includes the central urban area of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, 48 surrounding villages, and multiple refugee camps, in addition to the northern part of Jerusalem. The metering solution enables the organization to track and use water resources more efficiently with optimal accuracy ensured by the advanced, reliable, and efficient volumetric meter technology. For JWU, the solution will improve operational efficiency and help conserve Palestinian water resources. Additionally, Itron supplied JWU with a high-end cold-water test bench for meter verification and professional accuracy testing.
