Steady increase in global demand for Nereda

The global engineering and project management consultancy, Royal HaskoningDHV signed cooperation agreements for its Nereda? waste-water treatment technology for Spain and Portugal with ACCIONA Agua and WEC Projects for South Africa. Based in Spain, ACCIONA Agua specializes in water treatment and reverse osmosis desalination. WEC Projects is a contractor that builds water and wastewater treatment plants. Nereda is entirely based on natural processes, does not require chemicals, and features aerobic granular biomass with faster settling times than conventional activated sludge systems. Plants with Nereda technology are up to four times smaller than traditional installations and consume up to half the energy. Nereda technology was invented by the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and developed in a public-private partnership comprised of the University, the Dutch Foundation for Applied Water Research (STOWA), the Dutch Water Boards, and Royal HaskoningDHV.
