Holistic approach to leak detection in water tanks

In theory, few issues are as simple as a leaky storage tank. Essentially, a hole causes fluid to leak out of a storage tank until the fluid is below the level of the hole, causing fluid loss in the process. This explanation is, however, a major over-simplification. Leak detection and the associated issues of asset management, fuel management, and even security can make a big difference to the operational capabilities of many types of tank users. Leak detection and management are just as applicable to water as they are to any other resource, and in some cases water can be the most vital stored asset.
