Remote approach to surveys

A new method of completing class surveyreports is beingpiloted by a team involving Lloyd's Register, Carnival UK,SpecTecand James Fisher Mimic. The initiative will allow vessels with condition monitoring (CM) equipment to have class machinery reports compiled and delivered to surveyors automatically. This would do away with the need for surveyors to attend vessels or for ships'crews to complete continuous survey forms. It involves linking James Fisher's MimicCondition Monitoring system and SpecTec's AMOS MP (Maintenance Procurement) software so that the vessel's maintenance history and CM data can be gathered into one report. The Mimic Classification Survey Report merges information from Mimicand AMOS to provide a detailed report for CM-notated machinery audits, showing all of the information that a dass surveyor needs to satisfy the class requirement, as stipulated by Lloyd's Register.
