Project on target to improve safety

摘要

A new research initiative aimed at improving probabilistic damage stability formulations for large passenger vessels has been launched this yearwith the European Union'sfinancial sponsorship. Underthe acronym GOALDS (goal-based damage stability), the project hasa very high-profile participation by major European shipyards, flag administrations, operators, universities, tank-testing research establishments and classification societies. On completion of the three-year study, which is being co-ordinated by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), key results will be submitted to IMO for consideration in the rule-making process.
