World fleet changes in November 2005

Boxship ordering for November 2005 hit a three-year low, with only 14 container-ships contracted, providing a combined slot capacity of 31,936TEU. This is the lowest level of monthly contain-ership ordering since November 2002. The downturn is not surprising, given the recent level of overordering, and high newbuild prices now stipulated by shipyards. With the shadow of a swollen order book of over 4.3 million TEU looming, tramp owners and liner operators will now be concentrating on more profitable deployment strategy over the next three years.
