US Zn: Premiums hold

US zinc premiums were unchanged for the week with a quiet spot market as some summer maintenance shutdowns began. Argus assessed US special high-grade (SHG) zinc premiums at 8-8.75￠/lb, unchanged for the week, but falling LME stocks put pressure on premiums that the limited consumers were not willing to bend to. The spot market was quiet as summer preventive maintenance shutdowns began and more will be taking place in next couple weeks. But available supply of SHG zinc continued to tighten and there were premiums as high as 9.5￠/lb which had been turned down but was a discussion starter for some sellers.
