Markets mixed ahead of Biden admin

Base metal prices were mostly mixed in official trading on the London Metal Exchange (LME) this morning, as the market expects further direction from the confirmation hearing of potential US Treasury secretary Janet Yellen, where she is expected push for significant spending in the early part of the new presidential administration. The three-month LME copper contract rose just 0.10pc to $7,992/t in the official session Monday, while Comex’s next most active month copper contract gained 0.9pc to close at $3.63/lb. The three-month LME aluminum contract was the largest mover on the day, falling 1.3pc to $1,958/t. Three-month LME nickel climbed a mere 0.2pc to $18,133/t.
