VISION, COURAGE SERVICE: Life and Times of Gen TN Raina,MVC

There could have been none more eminently qualified to author the biography of Late Gen TN Raina, MVC than Brig SK Issar, VSM who had the privilege of twice serving as personal staff officer to the General - first as the Deputy Assistant Military Secretary during his command of 2 Corps and secondly, as the Military Assistant when he was the Chief of Army Staff. An abiding family association, going beyond the demise of Gen Raina, further enriched his understanding of the General. Brig Issar has authored three books earlier, The Illustrated History of The Kumaon Regiment: The Images of Valour and Triumph; A New Sunrise in the East: Story of The Naga Regiment: and a biography General SM Shrinagesh: Soldier, Scholar, Statesman, which add to his literary credentials. While dwelling on various facets of General's personality, his responses to various situations or actions initiated by him, the author has done well to elaborate on the background and context in order to place the matter in perspective for an easy understanding by the reader. The book is interspersed with first person narration of anecdotes from their family life by Mrs Raina, as also commentary by some of his close associates, lending authenticity to the narrative.
