Double Long Head of the Biceps Brachii Tendon

Developmental anomalies of the tendon of the long head of the biceps brachii are rare. The anatomic, embryologic, and anthropologic aspects of these variations have all been previously reported; however, some of their clinical examples have not yet been shown, such as the double structure of the long head of the biceps brachii. The purpose of this article is to describe a case of double structure of the LHB tendon in a patient with traumatic recurrent dislocation.Xarious developmental biceps tendon anomalies exist V in the human shoulder, most of which are extremely rare and benign.Developmental anomalies of the tendon of the long head of the biceps brachii (LHB) are rare, and were first described by De Palma.De Palma described 3 main developmental anomalies of the LHB: partial, complete intracapsular position, or absence of the tendon. Mariani and coworkers and Glueck and colleagues noted arthro-scopic absence of the LHB while treating shoulder pain and instability. Richards and coworkers presented another case that had an abnormal biceps anchor.The long head of the biceps may have a well-formed mesentery or may present as a double structure.1 Unfortunately, this developmental anomaly has only been described in textbooks, and we have no reports of imaging descriptions. The purpose of this article is to describe a case of incidental finding of double structure of the LHB tendon in a patient with traumatic recurrent dislocation.
