PKN Orlen casts about for refinery buyer.

According to Vilnius newspaper Uetuvos Rytas, the Polish refiner has offered to sell its 200.8K b/d refinery in Lithuania to KazMunaiGaz. The newspaper did not identify its sources, but said that PKN Orlen had met with the Kazakh company a number of times to discuss the sale of Orlen Lietuva, of which the Polish firm bought 84 for $2.34B in 2006. In doing so, it outbid both KazMunaiGaz and Russia's LUKoil and TNK-BP, but shordy afterward, Russia halted pipeline crude shipments to the refinery, compromising its profitability by forcing it to buy more expensive waterborne crude.
