The call for a ban on "multidose" vials by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention lacks insight into the use of propofol beyond sdation in endoscopy centres.1 The infection occurred in an endoscopy centre and not in a general hospital, where the same argument would not hold true-20 ml of propofol may be enough to sedate a patient having colohoscopylbut it is not enough in an operating theatre or intensive care unit.
