So says a report from European Environment Agency (ERA), which claims that EU member states "lack a clear strategy for redirecting public and private funds towards more sustainable investments as they shift to a low-carbon economy." The report added that only a few EU members (Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Germany) have implemented a strategy to invest in climate mitigation and adaptation technologies. From 2021-2030 the EEA estimates that the EU will need to invest approximately €177B ($200B) per year to meet climate targets, which is double the current annual investment figure.
