India: Bosch to invest Rs18bn

ROBERT Bosch India, an affiliate of Germany-based Bosch Group, plans to invest about Rs18bn (US$407m) by 2008 and make efforts to develop new products, Press Trust of India reported, citing a top executive of the company. The company revealed its plans at the inauguration of a new plant in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. According to Franz Fehrenbach, chairman of Robert Bosch, the company expects up to 25% of its revenue to come from the Asia Pacific region by 2015 and India is expected to contribute a major share of the total sales. Bosch achieved total consolidated sales of Rs40bn (US$882.97m) in India in 2005.
