The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on regarding the recent Supreme Court order barring registration of any BS III compliant vehicle on or after April 1, 2017. SIAM which has sought a meeting with the PM has said it is "being penalized despite meeting the law," because of the BS III ruling. SIAM has requested a national automotive regulatory body that will decide the timeline for implementation of various norms for the industry.
