UK: Clean Air Power to supply dual-fuel engine systems to Australian freight firm

UK firm Clean Air Power has secured a contract to supply 50 to 70 of its patented Dual-Fuel liquid natural gas (LNG)/diesel truck engine installation to Australian freight company Mitchell Corporation. Under the ￡1.5m (US$2.9m) contract, Clean Air Power will fit both new and existing trucks with the Dual-Fuel system. The order follows a trial on 14 vehicles, which are expected to generate annual fuel savings of up to ￡40,000 (US$78,000) per truck. According to Clean Air Power, the Dual-Fuel engine kit can reduce a truck's annual carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 37 tonnes. Should the engine's LNG supply be interrupted, the engine switches to diesel without loss of power.
