In this age of diversity and equality, it is disturbing to find a large section of society underrepresented and even experiencing overt prejudice in health and education.The group in question is men. There must be an impact on boys who can reach age 11 without ever having been taught by a male teacher or seen by a male nurse or doctor. Even beyond this age there are fewer male secondary teachers, and at work young men now often find themselves in female-dominated office and retail environments.When a section of the community is underrepresented within an organisation like the NHS, there is an expectation that it should recruit from that group to reflect the wider community, but this does not appear to be the case here.
