Gazprom unsure about Shtokman

Russian gas giant Gazprom could drop plans to develop the giant Shtokman natural gas field in the Barents Sea because of the fall in demand for foreign gas in the US - the field's main target market - as a result of the dramatic rise in US domestic shale gas production. Gazprom is to review its marketing strategy in view of changes in the global gas market - particularly the growth of shale gas production in the US - and decide whether to continue its Shtokman investment, Russia's Kommersant daily said January 26.
