AES goes solar in Silistra

Following last year's opening of its 156 MW St Nikola windpark in northeastern Bulgaria, US giant AES has unveiled plans for another renewables project - an 80-MW photovoltaic (PV) park in the Danubian region of Silistra, near Polkovnik Lambrinovo village. Approval by the sector regulator is expected this week of a pre-construction licence application for the 64-MW first stage of the "St Georgi Solar Park", with the 16-MW second phase to be added at a later date.
