Trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and the USA in the first half of 2006

General trade turnover between Ukraine and the USA amounted to USD 979.37 mn and increased by 27.42 percent or USD 210.78 mn. In particular, export of Ukrainian output to the USA expanded by 38.2 percent or USD 162.01 mn making USD 585.84 mn and import of commodities from the USA to Ukraine - by 14.2 percent or USD 48.77 mn up to USD 393.53 mn. Positive for Ukraine trade balance was USD 192.31 mn. The main staples of Ukrainian output exported to the USA market were ferrous metals (52.3 percent); output of inorganic chemistry (15.9 percent); aeronautical or space devices and apparatuses or their parts (10 percent); ferrous metals' articles (5.3 percent); and power-generating materials, oil, and products of its processing (3.8 percent).
