Fired up on gas

Typically; most LNG-fuelled vessels trade either regionally or on defined routes. They include ferries, offshore supply vessels and coastal cargo vessels. But experts believe that as more LNG bunkering facilities become available, gas as a fuel will become increasingly attractive to ocean-going ship operators. Major liner companies UASC and MOL have both opted to pay a premium to make sure that their new vessels are 'gas-ready', enabling a relatively straightforward conversion process when convenient bunkering facilities become available.
