CSCL's largest container vessel calls at Jeddah port

CSCL (China Shipping Container Line), the 7th largest container shipping company, has established itself as one of the leading carriers in the Red Sea region, with a market share of 12%, after first calling the Middle East in 2001. Today the company operates on 80 routes globally, covering all major trading sectors of the world The company says it wishes to increase Red Sea traffic further, using Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) as its regional hub. To demonstrate this, it brought the world's then largest vessel, the 19,100teu CSCL Globe, into JIP's Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) in mid-March, becoming the first carrier to bring one of the world's largest containerships to Jeddah and the Red Sea region.
