Unimarine: managing lubes complexity for owners

Over the past years, global crisis and pressure from regulators have brought more and more complexity into the shipping industry thus affecting marine lubricants market as well, writes Caroline Huot, managing director of Singapore-based Unimarine. Owners and managers had to react by cost cutting programmes to reduce OPEX in reaction to falling freight rates, while resulting eco-ships, slow steaming and new engine designs have required the development of corresponding new grades of cylinder oils.
