Turbot makes a splash in China

New hatchery and production unit built with European recirc technology. D large turbot hatchery and production operation in PingHai, outside the city of Shenzhen, in southern China, was recently opened amid much music, fanfare and speeches from localgovernment. The facility, which is fitted with a water-recirculation and treatment system incorporating technology from the Norwegian-based AkvaGroup, is starting out with a projected annual production of 400 metric tonnes. The plan is to have turbot production up to about 800 metric tonnes within a couple of years.
