Oyster growers along the west coast of North America continue to be frustrated with a shortage of oyster seed. Bill Dewey, a spokesman for Taylor Shellfish in Washington state, said the situation is exacerbated by an ever-growing demand for oysters from consumers throughout North America. And contributing to the lack of seed is ocean acidification which has been killing increasing numbers of juvenile oysters.
