Is the Cortez flounder a potential aquaculture species for Mexico?

The Cortez flounder, Paralichthys aestuarius, supports seasonal commercial fisheries in the Sea of Cortez, and is appreciated for its top quality meat. It is likely that adapting this species to aquaculture would be welcomed in the domestic fish market as well as for export. Christian Minjarez-Osorio, Martin Perez-Velazquez, Mayra L. Gonzalez-Felix, and German E. Ibarra-Garciaparra from the Departamento de Investigaciones Cientfficas y Tecnologicas of the Universidad de Sonora, in Hermosillio, Mexicorecently reported on experiments to evaluate the growth of P. aestuarius in response to feeds with different dietary protein levels.
