The need to provide patients with better information on molecular signatures

Every year in France, some 60,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and the majority will recover. The challenge of molecular testing is to confirm the need for chemotherapy in the slightly grey areas where doctors are undecided regarding its usefulness. The study by the Patients en réseau organisation, through its "Mon réseau cancer du sein" network, stressed a pressing need for more specific information: 84% of respondents stated that there was a strong need for information on molecular testing and 76% of patients who felt uninformed wanted to receive a brochure. Patient expectations based on information from professionals are relatively clear. Which patients are concerned? Why? What is the test for? In practical terms, how is it conducted? How long does it take ? How much will it cost? How are the results presented?
