Towards the end of the first chapter of her text, Johnson acknowledges that 'in the contemporary academic and media landscape many of us struggle to find the time to read books in their entirety' (21). As such, she highlights that she has provided brief recaps of the key ideas in each chapter here, and urges the busy reader to focus primarily on the conceptual frameworks considered in the book's opening two chapters, which inform the analysis that develops over the rest of the book. While the author's overviews are certainly helpful and exemplify a model of signposting to which we should all aspire, to limit your engagement with this text to her summaries would be to do both Johnson and yourself a sincere disservice.
