The more the human being as a control variable moves into the background and the vehicle as an independent control center for partial or overall functions comes to the fore, the more complex it becomes to control vehicles. Semi-automated vehicles have long been a common sight on the roads, highly automated vehicles will soon follow, and new mobility concepts are pushing for the use of fully automated shuttles in city centers, for example. This will only be successful if intelligent control technology is employed and, at the same time, new vehicle architectures allow for less complex approaches that are nevertheless more powerful and cost-efficient. In this context, driver-vehicle interactions require the control to be handed over frequently.
