The Baltic region is still showing high pace of trade in the coaster segment. There are still many cargo offers with Nov laycans, whiletonnage list remains limited. Most vessels are opening in the Baltic area only in Dec, and charterers have to consider ships open off the UKcoast and in the Continent to cover spot cargoes. Thus, the market remains on owners’ side and they are successfully dictating terms.However, rates have stabilized at last week’s highs and further upturns are sporadic. Note that rates for shipments on same routes oftenvary greatly.
