Abstract A large private insurer and Medicare in the United States was queried to evaluate the risk of postarthroscopic hip infection in patients who had preoperative injections. A 3-month threshold was established, showing a significant risk of postoperative infection (2.2% [odds ratio 6.1; P P ?= .04] for Medicare patients) if performed within 3?months of surgery (vs controls not undergoing a preoperative injection). ]]>
