摘要

Population genetic studies have established the role of natriureticpeptide system in blood pressure (BP) regulation.2The primary function of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is toinduce natriuresis through kidneys and promote vasodilatationin blood vessels. Clinical trials have shown that glucagon-likepeptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists reduce BP and decreasecardiovascular risk.3 In the current study, Kim et al1 uncover anovel link between GLP-1R and ANP, possibly elucidating themechanism behind the reduction of BP that is observed withthe use of GLP-1R agonists in clinical trials.
