Three major ink manufacturers in Japan have taken a hit to their business results for the first quarter of calendar 2022, re?ecting a strong impact from the surging cost of raw materials. DIC Corp. (TYO:4631), Toyo Ink SC Holdings Co. Ltd. (TYO:4634) and Sakata Inx Corp. (TYO:4633) have all posted results showing an increase in sales revenue; however, all three have seen their profits fall compared to the same quarter last year. While a change in accounting standards drove figures down on some fronts, the sales revenue of all three companies grew significantly due to price hikes and strong demand for electronic materials. Buoyed then by this, DIC in particular expects that its full-year sales revenue will get over the 1 trillion yen (ff7.82 billion) mark for 2022.
