Lotte Chemical and Others Resume Major Ethylene Investments in Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia is seeing the resumption of several major petrochemical investments for which planning had previously been halted due to COVID-19.One example here is Lotte Chemical Corp.,which intends to use a JV owned 49 percent by itself and 51 percent by Malaysian subsidiary Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd.(LCT)to establish a chemical complex centered around a naphtha cracker in Java,Indonesia.Aims are for this complex to have an annual ethylene production capacity of 1 million tons,be completed in 2025 and take an investment of approximately $4 billion.LCT has polyethylene(PE)facilities at the same location,and a site has already been acquired on adjoining land.
