Gun Ei Chemical Industry Co. Ltd. (GCI; TYO:4229) has started to look at increasing its production capacity for Kynol, a series of fibers based on phenolic resin. With demand here rising for use in various applications – including the manufacture of LiBs for use in electric vehicles – the company is now running out of spare production capacity. Plans therefore are to boost this capacity by approximately 30 percent through debottlenecking at existing facilities within the company’s Gunma Plant in Japan.
