MGC to Launch Facility for Producing Tens of Thousands of Tons of Green Methanol

Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co. Inc. (MGC; TYO:4182) is looking to launch a manufacturing plant by fiscal 2024 with the ability to produce tens of thousands of tons of green methanol each year. Working here with other companies and local governments, the company intends to run this as a demonstration plant with small-scale operations that match the volume of raw materials to be obtained, namely by-product hydrogen and recovered CO2. Further down the line, MGC plans to achieve commercialization on a scale of 100,000 tons a year by fiscal 2030, then make a full-scale entry into the materials industry here by producing between several hundred thousand tons and one million tons per year beyond fiscal 2030.
