EU decides not to renew phosmet approval

The European Commission has decided not to renew the approval of the insecticide, phosmet. Among the concerns identified in the EU assessment was an unacceptable risk to operators, workers, bystanders and residents, even with the use of personal protective equipment or imposition of available mitigation measures. It also identified a high acute and chronic risk to consumers, and a high risk to birds, mammals, non-target arthropods including bees, and aquatic organisms.
