Swiss voters reject national pesticide ban

Some six out of ten voters in Switzerland have rejected proposals to ban pesticides and to cut subsidies for farmers using them. A referendum on Sunday June 13th rejected both proposals. The initiative entitled "for a Switzerland without synthetic pesticides" was rejected by 60.6% of voters. The second proposal, "for clean drinking water and healthy food - no subsidies for using pesticides and prophylactic antibiotics", saw 60.7% of participants vote against.
