Craig Pocock is a guy who questions everything - a trait that saw his original choice of a career in the army fail to pass even the interview process. However, as a landscape architect, challenging assumptions is something his clients value, and for 20-plus years it's seen him working on projects worldwide, ranging from urban environments in Australia and the US to the deserts and mountains of Jordan and India, and the war-torn Palestinian West Bank. The collective experiences of diverse landscapes, cultural and environmental values gained while working on these projects fed into the design and management approach his company, Pocock Design Environment, takes today. "For example, the US made me focus on a high level of integration and collaboration with other disciplines; India taught me landscape values that can be used for economic and social well-being and Jordan taught me the value of resources, particularly water."
