A note on Tulipa dnnabarina

KARIN PERSSON describes how the name she published for a Turkish tulip in The New Plantsman in 2000 takes priority over another name for the same species published a short time later. A TURKISH TULIP, Tulipa dnnabarina K. Perss., was described by me as a new species from the Ermenek area in the central Taurus mountains (Persson 2000, published December 2000). By a strange coincidence, what must be the same species was published almost contemporarily in the Flora of Turkey 11 (supplement 2) by Ozhatay & Kocak (Ozhatay 2000), as T. karamanka. Their description matches T. dnnabarina almost perfectly and the locality is undoubtedly the same, as confirmed by the authors (in lett.), so the probability that it concerns the same species is very great.
