UK John Innes Centre seeks second-gen GM high iron wheat trials

Researchers at the UK research institute, John Innes Centre (Norwich, Norfolk), have applied to the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) for consent to conduct field trials of genetically modified biofortified high iron wheat. The application is to allow it to grow the second generation high-iron wheat plants in the field. The institute applied for trials on the first generation wheat in 2019.
