Washington hires Miracle Systems to create new border patrol unit

The US State Department has hired military subcontractor Miracle Systems to strengthen border controls in Niger as part of its Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) Program. It will work with the Bureau of Counterterrorism to establish a Rural Border Patrol Unit (RBPU) similar to the one in Kenya, also created with ATA's support. Miracle Systems will train Niger's military in shooting, patrolling and counter-insurrection operations to prepare for potential jihadist attacks.
