Community ties and business savvy keep Howard Brothers Florist thriving

In early 2010, after operating out of a series of leased spaces since his father and uncle established Howard Brothers Florist in 1947, current owner Lester Howard was finally in a position to buy his own building in Oklahoma City. He chose a former bank situated on a major highway across from the Southern Hills Baptist Church, one of the largest in South Oklahoma City.Set back on an expansive lawn, the bank building came with a large electronic leaderboard, which Lester uses to advertise specials. "Every week, two or three thousandpeople drive out of fhe church parking lof looking direcfly af us. You can't beat that," says Lester, a church member himself. *We work with the church closely doing weddings and funerals and give them special pricing that they really appreciate." Amongthe regular work Lester does for the churchis a permanent arrangement in the welcome center that is changed out four or five times a year.
