Genetic and biological characterization of non-inbred mice of the ICR colony

Mice of the ICR colony were imported into Russia from the Czech Republic. 67 ICR females were mated with males of the PT/Y line, the genotype of which is known at coat colour loci. The genotype of ICR mice at these loci was shown to be A-, B-, D-, S-, PP, SeSe, cc, the first 4 of these loci being polymorphic. For further analysis, 286 ICR females were mated with D2T males, the genotype of which is aa, bb, dd, T+. Polymorphism at the A, B and D coat colour loci in ICR mice was demonstrated. For litters from ICR females, data are tabulated on embryo mortality of 1st to 6th litters. Preimplantation mortality in ICR females ranged from 4.9% for 4th litters to 12.2% for 6th litters, and postimplantation mortality from 2.1% for 2nd litters to 11.5% for6th litters. Ovulation rate of ICR females, as indicated by the number of corpora lutea, was not significantly affected by age.
