World Bank Group member MIGA backs construction of 20MW solar photovoltaic plant in Malawi

A World Bank Group member has issued guarantees of $24mn to an independent power producer (IPP) for equity and shareholder loan investments in a new 20MW solar park in Malawi. According to a release by the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the new plant will help reduce 45,000 tonnes in carbon emissions and includes Malawi’s first battery energy storage system.
